Altura is a vibrant, 55+ retirement community ideal for adults who have no intention of retiring from life. Residents often gather at the Academy Village Campus to attend concerts, lectures and fitness classes. Residents also routinely enjoy nature walks with neighbors, friends and family throughout the miles of trails within the community and in the nearby Saguaro National Park East.

Altura is home to the Academy Village Campus, a multi-building complex centrally located at the heart of the community, which encompasses the Community Center, the Academy Villas and the Arizona Senior Academy (ASA).
The Arizona Senior Academy and Lifelong Learning
The ASA, a non-profit, tax exempt organization, is Southern Arizona’s premier adult education program affiliated with the University of Arizona. The ASA hosts approximately 15 events per month, including weekly seminars and classes about a wide range of topics such as history, music, politics, medical innovations, astronomy and business. The community also has a number of residents, interest groups and committees that routinely gather at the Academy Village Campus and coordinate a busy year-round calendar of events, activities, field trips, and classes focused on a wide range of topics, such as:

Activities at The Community Center
The Community Center features an upgraded, state-of-the art gym featuring yoga, pilates, aerobics, Tai Chi, cardio, and circuit training; an on site massage therapist; a hair and nail salon; an arts and crafts room and art gallery; event/meeting spaces; a lighted tennis court; a business center with computers, high-speed internet and a computer help-desk; a library with access to the UA Library; a heated pool and spa; and a dog park.
Health and Wellness
The Community Center also features a health and wellness center staffed by a registered nurse and certified nursing assistant to provide health education, screenings, wound care, interventions for disease prevention, referrals for local medical services, case management, and private duty home health services (fee based).

A Dedicated HOA
The Academy Village Homeowners Association (AVHOA), representing the Altura Community, strives to preserve the architectural integrity of the community, maintain the common areas, protect property values, and manage the operation in accordance with federal, state and local laws. The AVHOA offers a number of amenities and services, and engages residents in social activities ranging from Super Bowl parties and Cinco de Mayo celebrations to Holiday Gift Markets and Toy Drives to support local military families.Learn more
