Altura is home to the Academy Village Campus, a multi-building complex centrally located at the heart of the community, which encompasses the Community Center, the Academy Villas and the Arizona Senior Academy (ASA).
The Arizona Senior Academy and Lifelong Learning
The ASA, a non-profit, tax exempt organization, is Southern Arizona’s premier adult education program affiliated with the University of Arizona. The ASA hosts approximately 15 events per month, including weekly seminars and classes about a wide range of topics such as history, music, politics, medical innovations, astronomy and business. The Community Center
Altura’s Community Center is home to exciting activities and events hosted by the Academy Village HOA. Altura residents routinely gather here to learn, make friends, and improve their health and well-being.
The Community Center features:
- An upgraded, state-of-the art gym featuring yoga, pilates, aerobics, Tai Chi, cardio, and circuit training
- A community kitchen

Health and Wellness
The Community Center also features a health and wellness center staffed by a registered nurse and certified nursing assistant to provide health education, screenings, wound care, interventions for disease prevention, referrals for local medical services, case management, and private duty home health services (fee based).
Assisted Living at the Academy Villas
The Academy Villas, located within the community of Altura, offers assisted living residences designed to provide the highest standard of around-the-clock care in a residential environment. At Academy Villas, spirit of place and community create unique opportunities for aging. It is a special environment where people discover integrated well-being through strong interpersonal connections, physical fitness, and life-long learning.
